In 2011, the Port Authority of North Sardinia inaugurated a new activity: tourism of the cruise ships.

SPS Srl supported the Port Authority during the activity of Customer Satisfaction in order to understand the expectation and satisfaction of cruise passengers arriving to Olbia. In this way it was possible to improve the tourist offer.

The results of the study were impressive:

  • 6 months of work
  • 30 ships monitored
  • 3.000 interviews conducted in three different languages (Italian, English and French)

SPS has dealt with these activities

  • Collaborate in the research planning;
  • Set up the computer systems for entering and analyzing data;
  • Select and train the human resources;
  • Coordinate the human resources during the days of data collect;
  • Logistic management (questionnaires, uniforms, authorizations, contracts for the human resources, etc.);
  • Data entry in the computer systems;
  • Data analysis;
  • Final report

Thanks to this research, Olbia and the surrounding area have been able to customize the tourist system based on the needs of the cruise passengers. After this research Olbia accommodates the cruise passengers with a large pedestrian area enriched with many stands that increase the chances of purchase for tourists. In addition has been created a cooperation with the local businesses in order to organize better the opening time and have been added bus lines to reach the beaches easily.
